The Blessings of Liberty

At times, when reading a statute one finds instructions to interpret the statute strictly or liberally. Instructions found in the statute chartering the FAME corporation (Finance Authority of Maine) are of another sort all together, falling into the category of a justification, as opposed to clarification of how the law is to be interpreted These instructions tells us that "Any benefits accruing to private individuals or associations, as a result of the activities of the authority, are deemed by the Legislature to be incidental to the public purposes to be achieved by the implementation of this chapter. [1985, c. 344, §5 (AMD).]" FAME is the state corporation whose function is to concentrate and redistribute capital. Even if publicly acquired capital is redistributed to a corporation hiring 1000 or more employees that is but a very small segment of the public, but none the less a segment of the populous which directly benefits from FAME's redistribution of public weal

Maine Investment Fund Blog Artfully Parses Language to Occlude Role of The Maine Taxpayers.

Maine Taxpayers United For The Maine Constitution TWEET THIS POST ! http://goo.gl/rauNmN Just an observation but if I tweet my blog post from which this was taken with #mepolitics and another hash tag. The tweet displays on the other hash tag but not on #mepolitics. This has occurred with a number of retries with different tweets on this subject matter. This is the way politics is being done in Maine - especially as the political season heats up. The political class wants to control the talking points. That is the state of affairs of politics in Maine today. Recently The Small Enterprise Growth Fund Changed its name to The Maine Venture Fund. The MVF is a taxpayer subsidized high growth investors company. As with all of the corporations in the state corporate network, it was chartered by the Maine legislature in violation of the prohibition against the legislature chartering corporations to serve state purposes as found. in Article IV Part Third, Section 14 of the Maine Sta

Silence by Manipulation Takes One Step Forward and Two Steps Back

Today my voice in the Boothbay Register discussion Addressing a national crisis locally: Can the Boothbay region solve its housing issues? was again removed, most likely by the user Islandmanz.  Some months ago, I was confronted in Hannaford by a person employed by the Department of Economic and Community Development . I was told that I had to stop writing about the JECD (Joint Economic Development Council of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor). There was no collusion between the JECD and Industry Partnerships, I was told by one who obviously had been reading my blog.  The DECD is the statutory planning board of the Financial Authority of Maine , which concentrates and redistributes capital funds in Maine. What, then, is the DECD's chain of command, if not the regional boards? §13059.State agencies to cooperate    All state agencies and any other organizations designated by the department to implement community and economic development programs and policies shall cooperate with a

What’s Wrong with Democratic Socialism ?

Originally written for Medium Democratic Socialism has existed in the US longer than you may know. Cloudvisual-co-uk-unsplash (1) If one understands Democratic Socialism as a centrally managed wealth redistribution economy, the USA has been a Democratic Socialist society since at least the 1960's. In 1964 the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 was enacted by the federal government, promoted as an program to combat poverty. In 1965 The National Endowment for the Arts was enacted. This was followed by the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act of 1968 , a design to centrally coordinate every unit of government, from the federal to the local, using government grants (wealth redistribution) as its instrument. The transition that begins with creating a policy to improve the lives of the most distressed takes only four years to “mobilize human and financial resources” in service of a full blown top-down economy using grants to influence or control the economic developme

Angus King Back Room Deals

This posts analyses the statutes chartering the Maine Venture Fund and the Maine Technology Institute: This chapter from  Public Private Relationships and the New Owners of The Means of Production on is about the Angus King Years. It was a time when  Maine State Inc locked in its claims to intellectual property rights and the Legislature chartered two new corporations to further the transference of public wealth to private hands. ANGUS KING YEARS: BACK ROOM DEALS Under the leadership of Governor Angus King, the Legislature took control of Maine’s educational system partnering with a federal government program offering the ever-coveted federal dollars. The Department of Education was merged with the Department of Labor to train workers for the Legislature’s targeted sector. #8 of the Ten Planks of Communism. Equal liability of all to labor.
