Is Following Your Passion Politically Incorrect in the 21st Century?

The Great Seal" by Hammer51012 is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0  As of late, I have been wondering whatever became of the cultural narrative which used to be a mainstay of American literature and media. I am talking about the storyline where in the protagonist wrestles with the choice between pursuing a career he or she loves or prioritizing  money and job security, with the latter usually advocated by a parent and institutions. As societies across the globe move toward centrally managed economies, the individual loses ground to the collective good, The individual must be corralled by central management to serve the purpose of central management. Passion is a wild card which might lead the individual to create his own path, offering one explanation why the "Follow your Passion" narrative is receding into the dustbin of cultural history as economies, and thus culture, falls under the sway of central management. My search for the narrative, brought up a slew of ar

Big Company, Small Company

Beauty matters because it expresses love. The job of the craftsmen, when completely emerged in the process is to find and create beauty. I took a break from writing this blog to focus on writing a proposal for a much larger company than our own which had requested that we present a luxury line. In the end, I will not present the proposal to the company because the company has refused to sign a simple non-disclosure agreement, a necessary preliminary step, from a designer's perspective. Andersen Design is a design company and cannot ignore the fact that we live in the cyber age wherein large companies eat small ones. The non-disclosure agreement is a basic and minimal  protection, comparable to the terms of agreement one must sign in order to use the services of a website. The spokesperson for the company framed the relationship as about "their platform" but, it is also about our designs and ability to produce them. In our view, a partnership is a two way street, one in

Quotes From Caribou Maine Secessionist Committee Report VS Bangor Daily News Collectivists Argument

Tweet This http://goo.gl/U4Y47Q I don't have a lot of time to day so I am just posting some quotes from The Caribou Secessionist Representatives Report which was largely ignored by the Bangor Daily News Editorial Staff as they published this sort of opinionated and dis-informed view:   Worse, such an assessment makes it seem as if rural residents never go into cities or use their services. We doubt that is the case. - Bangor Daily News Editorial Opinion !  Commentary  ! Has it ever occurred to the editors of  Bangor Daily News that it is a two way street- that urban folk like to go to the country as well?  According to their logic all Maine taxpayers should be subsidizing Portland - Augusta, Bangor and other urban centers  along with the state courts of MRRA & Lorring ! That would drive taxes so high in rural Maine that current residents would be forced to lose their property , which a wealthier class o fcitizens could then take over !- Those made wealthy b

A Lttle Help From My Freinds !

Tweet This  http://goo.gl/csPTn3 Greetings to my freinds and supporters: I have written over three hundred blog posts mostly on the subject of researching Maine economic development statutes. In the process I have developed an in depth understanding of the history and interconnectedness of Maine's economic development policies. For some timeI have been thinking of writing a book on the subjects that I have explored in this blog . I would like to time the publication of such a book to have its most impact in the months leading up to the next election. I have been offered a 50% discount on a self publishing program if I take it by Monday June 29, 2015. The self publishing program will connect me with an online community for self publishing and help me with every phase from organizing my material into a book form to marketing. I found a crowdfunding site for journalism, It takes a day for project approval.  My Crowdfunder is now launced on Beacon- Here I The Live Li

The DECD and the Micro-economy

TWEET THIS  http://goo.gl/Rdeky9 The next section of the DECD statute is called  Article 2-B: MAINE MICROENTERPRISE INITIATIVE . It appears to be a devise designed to give the appearance of support for the micro economy- in name only - since the redistributed wealth will be granted to a non-profit organization. In the context of the rest of this statute, including the section on encouraging globalization through the foreign trade zone and another that excludes of the retail sector from benefits distributed by the tax payer funded Department of Community and Economic Development, this section comes across as barely concealed disdain held by the authors of the DECD statute toward the micro economic sector. Here we have the DECD generously offering to help the micro economy to train their staffs by giving money directly to non-profit organizations. What did the lawmakers who wrote the DECD statute  imagine the micro economy to be ? A collective component of the economy with only
