Tweet This! http://goo.gl/6pCJ4d I have recently been in a Facebook conversation with Ray Richardson in which LePage's desire to change the Maine Constitution so that the Secretary of State and Treasurer are under the administration rather than being positions appointed by two thirds of the legislature came up. Mr Richard said this is a conversation we need to have, to which I responded  that if we have a conversation about the Maine Constitution, he and Governor Lepage should not expect that conversation to be limited to talking points which they decide. I ususally find it irritating when politicians announce that "this is a conversation we need to have !" in which the conversation is to focus on a small subset of ideas. I made this mistake in part because I learned of it through the Maine Art Commission which had been sending announcements all year about the availability of stimulus grants - but when one opened the link, it was inevitably and exclusively for non-profits. When The Maine Arts Commission announced a competition for small business investment from "an anonymous donor" I assumed it was a grant for a variety of reasons, including that it was for a very modest amount and that the source was anonymous. I wasn't paying much attention to those details as I had never entered such a competition before and there was a lot to processing taking place in a short amount of time.
