Twitter Exchange with Steve Woods Continues Via Proxy Abigail Adams

Tweet This ! http://goo.gl/0tKMrP

Today Abigail Adams decided to weigh in on my twitter exchange with Steve Woods. Abigail is clearly a pseudonym hiding the real identity of the poster and intended to give the impression that the poster is a conservative or even a member of the Tea Party. Steve Woods did not make an appearance, at least not in his true identity. For all we know about Abigail Adams, she could be Steve Woods.
Abigail entered the conversation with this tweet:
Tide Smart got loans through the Recovery Act (stimulus).

Steve Woods had entered the conversation in response to my tweet:
"Baldacci and Woods claim Tide Smart Global was financed by stimulus funds- Is that so? ? !!

and said in a clearly mocking tone
"President Obama was born in Hawaii, Climate Change & gravity are both real & TSG never received a penny of stimulus funds."

I suppose that is meant to imply that Tide Smart Global did receive stimulus funds, when taken in the context in which Mr Woods had posted it, but mockery is such a commonplace political device, that I have a tendency to glaze over the mockery to try to focus on the substance of what is being said and so I flipped it around in my mind- meaning I took the statement "TSG never received a penny of stimulus funds" at face value and thanked Mr Woods for the clarification, after reminding him that Freedom of Access requests are also real. Then Mr Woods implicitly acknowledged that TSG did not receive stimulus funds, by justifying the fact that the PR News wire claimed otherwise, with the explanation that
"My reference at the time was in the context of broad infrastructure support that benefited my biz & all businesses"
In other words, Mr Woods merely benefitted from Obama stimulus funds for infrastructure just like everyone else and that's why there was a big ceremony with Governor Baldacci and a commemorative stone:

Woods attributes the reality of the project to funds made available through federal and state stimulus programs.  Out of gratitude for the opportunity and support through these programs, Woods presented both President Obama (not present) and the Governor with a commemorative stone pulled from the construction site and engraved with the ceremony's name and date. "For the TideSmart Global Business Garden to grow and prosper, we need the help and support of friends, family, business associates, community members, and local, county, state and national leaders."  He continued, "There has never been a better time to expand TideSmart Global's operations and the economic incentives offered through federal and state stimulus programs have enabled us to harness this opportunity." Quoted from The Street  and an article headlined: President Obama And Maine Governor Baldacci Receive Commemorative Gift At Ground Breaking Ceremony For Construction Expansion Made Possible By Federal And State Stimulus Programs
Very generous of Mr Woods to make such an elaborate ceremony and gift in thanks for the Obama Stimulus funds going for infrastructure that benefits everyone ! What a Stand Up Guy! I wonder what infrastructure it was? Wasn't it Obama who joked about the shovel ready jobs not being as shovel ready as they thought they were? And isn't that still the plan- to stimulate the economy through infrastructure investment? If the Norwegians can give Obama a Nobel peace prize when he has barely been in office- just on the idea of Obama's "promise" then Steve Woods can stage an elaborate ceremony and have a stone engraved to thank Obama for his promises as well! -Except that the words in the article are "Woods attributes the reality of the project to funds made available through federal and state stimulus programs". That is specific. That is not about general infrastructure projects that benefit all alike- it's about building a business plaza , so large that Governor Baldacci is quoted as saying
""I've never seen so much enormous earth work done in the state of Maine."
So back to our proxy lil Miss Abigail Adams ! She, in my view was sent into the conversation to preform a specific political function- which is to create confusion around an issue. Never does Miss Abigail address the response I received from David Heidrich, Jr. Assistant Director of Communications Department of Administrative and Financial Services of the state of Maine. Lil Mis Abigail Adams is there to say that it is true that Tide Smart Global received stimulus funds and produces a source that says it did- one that neither I nor Mr David Heidrich was able to locate in June of  2013 after doing a thorough search for every conceivable name and every conceivable route - but there it is it is dated  2009, but it is NOT a grant for making the project a reality- it is a grant to help small businesses to find private sources of financing

EMG3 LLC $663,000504 Certified Development Loans TO ASSIST SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS BY PROVIDING LONG TERM FINANCING THROUGH THE SALE OF DEBENTURES TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Tidesmart Logistics LLC $541,000504 Certified Development Loans TO ASSIST SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS BY PROVIDING LONG TERM FINANCING THROUGH THE SALE OF DEBENTURES TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR

That means that the real financers are in the private sector. The amounts shown here are just to funds needed to help to put the project financing into place. Why would Mr Woods do an elaborate ceremony to thank Obama for promises made about infrastructure and not thank the private sources that allegedly financed the building of Tide Smart Global? This is not the way things are done. The only mention of private sources are said in the most general of terms :
"For the TideSmart Global Business Garden to grow and prosper, we need the help and support of friends, family, business associates, community members, and local, county, state and national leaders."
That's It! Why is there no mention of the names of the investors? Is it not standard protocol to recognize them? Unless there is a reason to remain hidden.

Why are social impact investors trying so hard to defeat smaller shelters for the homeless?

"Social Impact” developers in Portland, Maine seek to squelch a referendum for smaller shelters called for by qualified practitioners with concrete experience in the field. Currently, mutually benefitting factions are coming together once again in hopes of building a mega-shelter for the homeless in a Portland, Maine industrial development district. In addition to beds for the homeless, the project will include, dining, and locker facilities, as well as offices and an attached health clinic. The promotion  describes the facility

The Lepage Plan- Filled with Inconsistencies

Tweet This http://goo.gl/dp9zpP In recent weeks we have been hearing that LePage wants to eliminate the income tax. My initial response was I'll believe it when I see it . During his tenure, LePage has agressively advanced corporate welfare, which our legislature and administration justify via the means of an income tax on labor. The state of Maine, being in fact today the corporation of Maine, and run in the interests of profit would not be able to justify the massive tax payer give-a-ways to capitalists without claimimg such a policy is profitable because it produces a high end labor tax base which brings in the revenue. So when LePage floats the concept that he wants to eliminate the income tax, I say that even if that were actually Lepage's intent it is highly improbable that it can ever happen without first deconstructing the corporate state and its ever expanding corporate welfare system. To start with expanding the instances in which sales tax will be collected is e

The Maine Capital Corporation-Seeds of Fundamental Transformation

The capital stock was issued on August 7, 1980, to 6 individuals, 6 corporations, and 19 banks. Longley's special board was composed, of the heads of Maine's largest and most powerful industries. The board produced a report identifying two objectives. One objective was to eliminate the municipal referendum on economic development bonds authorized by  the Home Rule amendment to the Maine constitution in 1969.
