I first began  blogging about political matters  because I observed that there was a missing diversity of reporting and opinion in the Maine media. My purpose in writing my own blog is to create an alternative voice. I have likewise found this to be true in terms of access to economic development support in the Boothbay Region despite the existence of organizations which call themselves economic development councils and resources. The economic development council is as unapproachable as the Boothbay Planning Board, which despite language found in T itle Thirty of the Maine Statutes  stating that the public "shall" have a hearing in regards to town planning, inclusive of comments submitted in writing, the Boothbay Planning Board  does not provide contact information on the town website , also true for the Joint Economic Development Planning Council. In the process I have developed an in depth understanding of the history and interconnectedness of Maine's economic development policies. Its been ions since the Maine state legislature granted onto themselves the authority to centrally manage the economy and have been decreeing for years that the transference of taxpayer money to private interests is for the public good. The viability and constitutionality of Maine's centrally managed economy, which I have called Maine State Inc- is perpetually kept out of the political dialogue by politicians and the Maine media alike, but these programs serve the interests of the few at the expense of the many. All of the candidates in the gubernatorial race are co-conspirators in "targeted sector economics". The last accountability on Maine's "economic development" programs was in 2006 which concluded that there was no evidence that these programs create jobs and that they do invite corruption.
