IDEXX Becomes First Corporation to Exploit Maine’s Global Corporate Welfare Act

IDEXX Becomes First Corporation to Exploit Maine’s Global Corporate Welfare Act I am now publishing on Medium, a place where over 10000 writers from around the world contribute, and where there are many publications to which one can submit one's work, or create one's own publication. Readers can follow writers and publications. By so doing one creates a personally curated network  displayed in a section on Medium's home page, There is original writing on every topic, from cooking to quantum physics. Many well known magazines are on Medium, At five dollars a month it is a good bang for the buck. I have been accepted as a writer for three publications to date, The Start Up  is the most active Media publication, Be Unique , which is a smaller and growing publication, and Dialogue & Discourse , my favorite Media publication, thus far. As I joined Medium was undergoing a policy change whereby writer compensation is no longer built on applause, but on th

Is Following Your Passion Politically Incorrect in the 21st Century?

The Great Seal" by Hammer51012 is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0  As of late, I have been wondering whatever became of the cultural narrative which used to be a mainstay of American literature and media. I am talking about the storyline where in the protagonist wrestles with the choice between pursuing a career he or she loves or prioritizing  money and job security, with the latter usually advocated by a parent and institutions. As societies across the globe move toward centrally managed economies, the individual loses ground to the collective good, The individual must be corralled by central management to serve the purpose of central management. Passion is a wild card which might lead the individual to create his own path, offering one explanation why the "Follow your Passion" narrative is receding into the dustbin of cultural history as economies, and thus culture, falls under the sway of central management. My search for the narrative, brought up a slew of ar

Maine's Industrial Partnership Bill - Where Does it Lead?

The season for electing town selectmen is underway locally. I live in Boothbay but since a public private economic development group (JECD) has been implemented on the peninsula which finances itself by taxing both municipalities, it is fair game to ask questions of candidates for Boothbay Harbor selectmen announcing their candidacy in letters to the editor of the Boothbay Register. I started writing this blog back around 2007 because I observed that in the Maine media, economic development policy is reported propaganda style, one point of view presented, almost exclusively of all others. This media policy extends to major politically transformational economic development acts of legislation, or better said, the failure to publish stories and information before and after such acts are passed. The Industrial Partnerships Act of 2013 , is an arguably totalitarian measure which threatens to solidify the central management of everything in Maine by the public-private state. Shortly aft

Confucius Institute Merges with Maine State Inc and English becomes a Second Language

The film Conspiracy  is described like this:  This  is the story of the top-secret Nazi meeting to debate the merits of Hitler's 'Final Solution,' the extermination of the entire Jewish population of Europe. Kenneth Branagh and Stanley Tucci star in this gripping drama.  The film is based on document of record about a meeting that took place among the power elite of Nazi Germany (excluding Hitler) . The meeting took place in a very wealthy home which once belonged to a Jew. Although the meeting is billed as a "debate" about policy, it is actually an announcement about policy that is already being implemented on a mass scale. The film is a dramatization of what a corporate state looks like in action and taken to its worse degree. The board sits around the table and every one has their folders and they discuss the merits of "the program" in a very businesslike manner.   As the drama evolves it becomes clear that it is not just the human po

Can a Write in Vote For The Late Governor Seldon Connor Effect A Paradigm Shift in Maine Politics?

TWEET THIS !  http://goo.gl/LrVzSg I do not feel that any candidate running for governor truly supports the interests of the state of Maine. Since I have been researching the economic development statutes it has become clear to me that since the Maine legislature deemed that centrally managing the economy is an essential government function in 1977 when the legislature chartered the Maine Development Foundation Corporation, that every governor and every legislature has advanced the corporate state no matter what party is in control and the media has obediently not questioned or engaged any conversation about the underlying political philosophy that is being altered by such actions on the part of our legislature and administrations. There is never a point in time when the political philosophy at work is included in the political talking points of the day. And so as Mikkel Clair Nissen describes about Denmark, there is no right - as in conservative- side of politics in Maine today
