How the Boothbay Roundabout Was Sold

In a story published in the Boothbay Register,  in May of 2014      The return of the TIF ,   the TIF district which was passed did not  include the controversial village improvement plan, traffic roundabout or borrowing money to pay for a municipal bond. In 2016, the town entered into a financial partnership with the Maine Department of Transportation to finance a roundabout. According to the DOT Cooperative Agreement,  the Developer. Paul Coulombe ("PGC5 LLC") hired the design firm to design the roundabout which required approval by  DOT.  I have never found confirmation of the identity of the design firm hired by the Developer. In March of 2016, a proposal including a re-routed Corey Lane, a new entrance to Back River Road and roundabout near the Boothbay Common was published in the Boothbay Register as a plan approved by the Maine Department of Transportation. How my comments discussing tiffs vanished from the discussion in the Boothbay Register

It was my plan to follow up the post on the Maine Capital Corporation with a look into t he report created in 1983, by the Beldon Hull Daniels firm . However, there are several recent local news stories which I feel it is timely to weigh in on, but just as I was developing that post, I joined a discussion on the Boothbay Register in which my published response to an alternate identity who calls itself Ilandmanz vanished. This is not an uncommon experience with comments on the Boothbay Register, especially if I say something that may embarrass the oligarchy trifecta of Coulombe, Coastal Botanical Gardens Incorporated and the JECD, which I did indeed do, and the selectmen of the town as well. Not socially or politically acceptable in Maine, which is why I write my blog in the first place, to create a place where an alternate view can be expressed. Blocked Comment on Boothbay Register Re Switch from DOT Financing to TIF Financing.

I became engaged in a discussion on the Boothbay Register, in response to a letter titled Praise For the Roundabout and Surroundings , wherein, as has become the custom, another of my comments has been blocked with the "pending" option. I reposted the response as a stand-alone comment it is also now "pending" in my Disqus profile. The Register recently posted some rules about polite conversations but it is quite obvious that Coulombe and his supporters make consistence use of the ad hominem argument, attacking the speaker rather than addressing points made. These posters become progressively more vicious if one continues to speak one's mind despite their obvious attempts to bully all opposition into silence. Their posts remain in full public view. I have found the user blocking function on Disqus so that most of those who argue by such method will no longer see my posts and I will not see theirs. A Convenient Law Suit & New Commercial Development at Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens Inc.

While the super-funded Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Inc is busy using it's vast re-distributed wealth to bully the Town of Boothbay, Maine.into allowing the Gardens to build a parking l ot in the water shed, few are paying attention to the fact that the tax-exempt Gardens is also expanding its commercial operations via a restaurant and an expanded gift store. Meanwhile, thanks to the distributive policies of the Maine DOT , Maine state taxpayers were required to pay one third of the cost of rerouting the traffic patterns entering and exiting Boothbay Harbor by creating an obstacle in the formerly unobstructed roadway so that the traffic pattern goes directly from Coastal Gardens Incorporated to Paul Couloumbs Country Club and planned shopping mall.
